Doug has been involved with the club as a player, captain or coach since 1975
Born in Northants but a passionate Welshman, Doug has been involved with the club as a player, captain or coach since 1975, bar spells in the early Eighties with Rugby Lions and Northampton Saints Doug's passion for the club doesn't just involve him - his wife Helen has worked tirelessly at Kettering RFC for more than 30 years and his son Tom is the first-team scrum-half.  Doug started his sporting career by having trials for Derby County and Nottingham Forest, but he realised the social side of rugby was significantly more enjoyable and the rest is history!  Apart from guiding Kettering, Doug has coached the East Midlands U18s and senior teams, and is a qualified Level Three coach, coach educator and Level Three coach mentor.

I think I'm in pretty good shape but I'm looking for tips that I could adopt
Chris Chapman, 26, is a blindside flanker and captain of the team. He has played at the club for 20 years and works as an engineer for Weetabix, which keeps him on his feet. At 6ft 1in and 14st 3lb, he's well built for the back row and typically goes to the gym three times a week. Away from the game, he likes attending motorsport events and in the off-season he enjoys cruising on his bike. "I think I'm in pretty good shape but I'm looking for tips that I could adopt" he says.

The Kettering Vice-Captain and centre introduces himself

I used to be quite fat but when I left school I decided to do something about it

Joe Newman, 22, is a strapping outside-centre and vice-captain of the side. The son of the chairman, he started at the club as a mini. At 6ft 1in and 13st 13lb, he was a back-row until four years ago but switched position because Kettering had strength in that area. "I used to be quite fat but when I left school I decided to do something about it" he says. He works for an engineering company and does four gym sessions a week in addition to his twice-weekly sessions at the club.

The Kettering prop forward introduces himself

I'm quite mobile now, but I want to work on my strength and technique in the scrum
Josh Cox, 21, is a 5ft 10in tighthead prop who took up rugby at 12 and is in his third season for the first team. Last season he tipped the scales at 18st 11lb but changes to his diet have seen him trim down to 14st 9lb in rapid time. "I'm quite mobile now, but I want to work on my strength and technique in the scrum" he says. He's a stonemason by trade, so lifts heavy loads on a daily basis. A Northampton Saints fan, he also plays seven-a-side football and enjoys shooting.
