Dr. Ian Rollo is the Senior Scientist at the GSSI UK. This role involves research on exercise physiology and sports nutrition, whilst offering support to professional teams and Olympic athletes in a variety of sports. Dr. Rollo has specific research expertise in carbohydrate metabolism and the impact of carbohydrate ingestion on endurance running performance.
Dr. Rollo earned his Bachelors degree from Birmingham University in sport and exercise science and Masters degree from Loughborough University in exercise physiology. In 2009 he received a Ph.D from Loughborough University where he worked with Professor Clyde Williams, recognised internationally as an authority in nutrition and exercise science. In 2005 he worked at the world famous August Krogh Institute, Denmark, assisting in studies on mechanisms of fatigue during high intensity exercise and optimising nutritional strategies in football. Ian has been a consultant for GSSI in the UK and Netherlands since 2009. He was also the module leader on Loughborough Universities Masters in Sports Nutrition before joining GSSI full time in 2012.
Dr. Rollo has authored a number of publications in peer reviewed journals and delivered invited presentations in the UK and abroad.

The Gatorade nutritional advisor introduces himself
Matt completed has a degree in Sport & Exercise Science and a Masters in Sport & Exercise Nutrition from Loughborough University. After which he undertook a Performance Nutrition internship at Athletes Performance (USA) which enabled him to learn from experienced and respected practitioners and also facilitated the opportunity to work with a wide variety of athletes at various levels. His role at Gatorade centres on athlete education, either through bespoke consultations or presentations to teams and clubs about sports nutrition. Matt has always been a keen athlete, taking part in numerous sports including football and cricket. He represented Burnley FC at youth level as well as playing at a county and national level. Angus joined Opta in 2011 managing their work in Rugby Union and League. Opta analyse over 500 rugby fixtures from around the globe every year including the Aviva Premiership, RaboDirect Pro 12, Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup, Super 15, ITM Cup, 6 Nations, Rugby Championship, Super League and NRL. This leads to having the most granular rugby database on the planet. Over 75 professional clubs, governing bodies and federations use Opta data to power their performance and video analysis. Currently Opta work with the World Cup winning All Blacks, the RFU, all clubs in the Aviva Premiership and Pro 12 as well as all clubs in Rugby League's Super League. Angus has a background in Professional Rugby League having been assistant coach with Scotland from 2007 - 2011, including coaching at the 08 RL World Cup in Australia. He played rugby union for Scottish Universities and Rugby League for Scotland Students.

Simon Nainby is an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach, Sports Massage Therapist and RFU Level II coach. He has worked for a number of professional and semi-professional teams and he currently acts as a coaching consultant through Underground Athletics to a wide range of athletes from rugby players to Olympic Lifters. He provides physical preparation training and support in order to maximise sports performance. This consists of strength, speed and power training combined with recovery support to create a periodised programme which is essential for athletes to perform to their potential.
